The public is invited to a free seminar presented by Dr. Chad Weber, orthopedic surgeon, at Wilson Memorial Hospital on Monday, July 25, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The seminar will be held in the Wilson Medical Building, Lower Level Conference Room A.

In the United States, more than 40 million people either already have osteoporosis or are at high risk due to low bone mass. Osteoporosis can occur in both men and women and at any age, but it is most common in older women.

On July 25, Dr. Weber will discuss the expanding epidemic of osteoporosis; identify the causes of the disease and the different prevention and treatment options. He will also discuss fragility fractures and the necessary steps to prevent these injuries from occurring.

Dr. Weber practices with Orthopedic Associates of Southwestern Ohio (OASWO) and sees patients out of their Sidney office. He is fellowship trained and provides general orthopedic care including total joint replacements, rotator cuff repair and sports medicine injury care. With his specialized training, Dr. Weber also sees and treats patients with complex fractures; including the upper extremity and lower extremity and other bones and joints, isolated fractures/dislocation, and poly-trauma, or multiple traumatic injuries.

Dr. Weber earned his medical degree from the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio. He completed his residency and internship in orthopedic surgery at Grandview Hospital Medical Center in Dayton. Dr. Weber holds a Master of Science degree in sports healthcare from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine – Arizona School of Health Sciences, Phoenix, Arizona.
