New VP Joins Wilson Health

Wilson Health welcomes Carl Whittenburg as the new Vice President and Executive Director for Wilson Health Medical Group (WHMG). He joins the executive leadership team with a wealth of experience and knowledge, having over 15 years of multifaceted healthcare administration experience.

Wilson Health Medical Group Welcomes Dr. Morford

Dr. Jane Morford, M.D., has joined Wilson Health Medical Group. Dr. Morford is board-certified and brings over 26 experience in the diagnosis and treatment of adult medical conditions, as well as preventative care.

Dr. Morford has urgent care experience and will see and treat patients with acute illness or minor injuries. She is now welcoming both adult patients and children.

Wilson Health Names New CEO

Wilson Health’s national search to identify its new chief executive officer (CEO), is over.

The Board of Trustees has named Mark Klosterman the new President and CEO of Wilson Health. He will take over for Duane Francis who has served as interim CEO since June of 2018. Klosterman will assume his role January 21.

Wilson Health Announces Partnership with Valley Regional Surgery Center

The Board of Trustees on November 28 approved a plan for Wilson Health to expand outpatient care and increase surgical capacity through a joint venture with Valley Regional Surgery Center.

The joint venture is with Ohio Surgical Associates, LTD and physicians Dr. Robert McDevitt, Dr. Andrew David McDonald, Dr. Virgilio Ponferrada, and Dr. John Wilding, the current owners of Valley Regional Surgery Center in Piqua.

Sixth Straight A for Patient Safety

Wilson Health acheived straight A's for the sixth consecutive year in The Leapfrog Group’s Fall 2018 Hospital Safety Grade, released today. With the Hospital Safety Grades, Leapfrog assigns an A, B, C, D or F grade to hospitals across the country based on how safe they are for patients.

Free Weight Loss Seminars at Wilson Health

Wilson Health will offer free monthly workshops on weight loss options available to those individuals who need to lose weight for medical reasons or who have not been successful with other methods of weight loss. 

Wilson Health to Open Medical Office in Piqua

Wilson Health is opening a new medical office in Piqua and expanding services into Miami County. 

The 2,800 square foot medical office is located at 1255 East Ash Street. Wilson Health will lease space from the Advanced Foot and Ankle Care’s Piqua building. Renovation and minor construction work will begin soon to prepare the office for occupancy.

Wilson Health Raises Awareness of Breast Cancer

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month and Wilson Health is encouraging women to get their screening mammograms.

The breast cancer mortality rate in Shelby County is 27 percent higher than the national rate. The screening mammography rate in Shelby County is 58.1 percent compared to a national rate of 72.4 percent. Ohio ranks seventh in highest number of breast cancer diagnosis.

Auxiliary Donations Improve Patient Experience

Since the Wilson Health Auxiliary’s inception in 1974, the organization has donated over $797,000 to Wilson Health. Each year, more than 80 volunteers give their time and talent to the hospital and average more than 13,000 hours of service. The Auxiliary raises funds through hospital gift shop sales, fundraisers and dues paid by members. These funds are donated to the Wilson Health Foundation. Hospital departments are asked to submit a wish list of equipment needs that would enhance the patient experience.

Brake for Breakfast on October 18

Wilson Health will recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October by educating the public and encouraging women to get mammograms with a drive-thru "Brake for Breakfast" event on October 18. 

Brake for Breakfast is a free event that will take place at Wilson Health's PrimeCare physician office located at 1205 Fairington Dr. (off of Fair Rd.) in Sidney from 6 -9 a.m.
