Wilson Health to Participate in Match Day 2021

What is Match Day?

The Community Foundation of Shelby County is organizing Match Day 2021, an opportunity for the Wilson Health Foundation, along with 22 other non-profits in Shelby County to earn matched funds (up to $5,000) for specific projects that benefit our local communities.

What is Wilson Health's Match Day Project?

Wilson Health will be working to raise money for a new Panda Infant Warmer for the Copeland-Emerson Family Birth Center at Wilson Health.

Each year more than 600 babies are born at the Family Birth Center at Wilson Health. A machine known as a Panda warmer is located in the newborn nursery and used to monitor a newborn. When a newborn requires extra care and attention and can’t be in their parent’s arms, the Panda warmer is the best option.

A Panda Warmer is an all-in-one solution to help babies go home healthy. Panda warmers have an emphasis on family-centered care to create a more inclusive and collaborative environment for care providers and parents. In addition, they provide the integrated technology solutions to help the Wilson Health Family Birth Center staff provide appropriate care.

Each baby born at the family birth center will spend time in a Panda warmer, but those babies born by C-section, male babies following circumcision and any baby that would require stabilization prior to a transfer to a higher level of care would all use the Panda warmer more extensively.
