Kaitlin Sutter, AT, ATC, Athletic Trainer at Wilson Health, has been nominated for the Ohio Hospital Association's Healthcare Worker of the Year Award.

Kaitlin Sutter, AT, ATC: A Lifesaving Presence in Our Schools and Community

Kaitlin Sutter, AT, ATC, has served as an athletic trainer at Wilson Health for more than ten years, playing a vital role in keeping student-athletes healthy, safe, and performing at their best. As a school athletic trainer, Kaitlin combines her extensive education and experience in sports medicine, injury prevention, emergency response, and communication to provide comprehensive care for student-athletes.

Often the first line of defense for athlete health, Kaitlin is responsible for preventing injuries, responding to emergencies, managing recovery, and ensuring students can safely return to play. While much of her work focuses on student-athletes, her impact extends far beyond the field and gym—reaching families, parents, and the entire community.

In May 2025, Kaitlin was honored with the 2025 Lifesaving Efforts Award at the Ohio Athletic Trainers’ Association Awards Banquet. The award recognized her heroic actions during an incident that occurred in February 2024 at a high school basketball game.

During the game, James Wolf of Minster, Ohio, began experiencing chest pain. He pulled Kaitlin aside to explain what he was feeling before collapsing in the hallway outside the gym. Kaitlin immediately began performing CPR while an AED was retrieved. During transport to Wilson Health, EMTs lost Wolf twice. Wolf later credited his survival of the heart attack to Kaitlin’s swift action and calm response in the crisis.

Since the incident, Wolf has remained in contact with Kaitlin and expressed deep gratitude for her actions. “She will forever be woven into our family,” Wolf said.

Kaitlin is known for her kindness, humility, and dedication to going above and beyond—for her students and for the community she serves. Wilson Health’s mission is to improve the health and wellness of its communities by delivering compassionate, quality care so people can spend more time doing what they love with those they love. On that February day—and every day since—Kaitlin Sutter has exemplified that mission.

Congratulations to Kaitlin Sutter on being named Wilson Health's nominee for OHA Healthcare Worker of the Year.
