Eighty to 90 percent of the people in the United States suffer or will suffer from back pain at some time during their lives.  Back pain is the second most common reason people visit a physician.

Dr. Jeffrey Rogers, an anesthesiologist specializing in spine pain management, will begin seeing and treating patients at the Spine Center at Wilson Memorial starting in January.  Dr. Rogers is affiliated with Orthopedic Associates of SW Ohio (OSWO).

Dr. Rogers will offer a full range of interventional procedures including epidurals, facet injections, sacroiliac injections, radiofrequency ablation and dorsal column stimulation.  He will treat conditions such as herniated discs, sciatica, arthritis of the spine, post-laminectomy syndrome, vertebral compression fractures, and sacroiliac pain.  Additionally, Dr. Rogers is interested in treating pain related to cancer, shingles, peripheral vascular disease, diabetic neuropathy, reflex sympathetic dystrophy, and phantom limb pain.

Utilizing the most up to date technology, Dr. Rogers’ goal is to help patients minimize their discomfort, improve their functional capacity, enable them to return to work, improve the over-all quality of their life and importantly minimize the use of medications.  Many of these procedures are performed in order to avoid surgery.  The treatment plans use a multidisciplinary approach which may include the injections, osteopathic manipulation, physical therapy, aqua therapy, occupational therapy and psychotherapy.

Dr. Rogers received his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.  He completed his residency training at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA., followed by a fellowship in interventional pain management at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ.  Dr. Rogers is board-certified in both anesthesia and pain management by the American Osteopathic Board of Anesthesiology.  He has been practicing in southwestern Ohio for over 16 years.

Besides working in his medical practice, Dr. Rogers is involved with medical missions in third-world countries.  For the past 11 years, he has organized a medical/surgical team to work in a small village in Guatemala.  He has also done work in China, Peru, Paraguay, Honduras, Zambia, and Guyana.  This year he will make trips to Guatemala and Paraguay.
