On Tuesday, March 28 at 6:30 p.m., Dr. Masroor Abro, MD, FACC, FACP cardiologist, Lima Memorial Health System and Heart Institute of NW Ohio, will be the featured speaker at the Wilson Health Diabetes Support Group meeting. The meeting is open to anyone interested in diabetes -- those who live with diabetes, family, friends or supporters of those with diabetes -- all are welcome to attend.

The following statistics (Source: American Heart Association) speak loud and clear that there is a strong correlation between cardiovascular disease (CVD) and diabetes.

  • At least 68 percent of people age 65 or older with diabetes die from some form of heart disease; and 16% die of stroke.
  • Adults with diabetes are two to four times more likely to die from heart disease than adults without diabetes.
  • Diabetes is considered to be one of the seven major controllable risk factors for cardiovascular disease.

Join us as Dr. Abro breaks down these statistics and shares medical knowledge and insight on heart disease and diabetes.

The presentaiton is free and open to the public and will take place in the lower level of the Professional Building on the Wilson Health main campus. For questions, please contact the Diabetes Education Center at (937) 498-5400.
