Meet Dr. Dunkle-Blatter

Stephanie E. Dunkle-Blatter, MD, FACS

Dr. Dunkle-Blatter, or Dr. D-B as she is called, has 12 years of experience and expertise in weight management and surgical services. Dr. D-B attained fellowship training in Minimally Invasive Surgery and Bariatric Surgery at Geisinger Medical Center. She joined Wilson Health in February of 2018.

Dr. Dunkle-Blatter earned her medical degree at the University of Kentucky and stayed in Lexington at UK for General Surgery residency training prior to her minimally invasive surgery fellowship. She has worked previously in Indiana and Ohio.

Dr. D-B performs a range of general surgery including bariatrics. She believes being active in endoscopy allows her to fully evaluate and care for her patients while performing upper endoscopies for evaluation of abdominal pain and in preparation for bariatric surgery.

With a focus on high quality, safe patient care in a community setting, Dr. D-B has established herself as a surgeon with consistently high patient satisfaction scores and outcomes. She promotes excellence in the operating room and strives to achieve the highest quality patient care. She enjoys working with weight management patients where the surgery is often the driving force for overall better health. Dr. D-B forms personal relationships in order to fully connect with her patients and promote better outcomes.

Dr. Dunkle-Blatter is committed to continued medical education. She regularly attends national conferences including the ASMBS Obesity Week and the Minimally Invasive Surgery Symposium, among others. In 2016, she attended the coveted Surgeons as Leaders course conducted by the American College of Surgeons and participated in Mercy’s Leadership University. She enjoys public speaking and providing education on a number of surgery related topics.

Dr. D-B states, “No one wants to have to have surgery. I feel privileged to help people feel comfortable through the process. I enjoy guiding patients through life transformations and helping resolve their pain and other concerns. I enjoy inspiring our team to provide the best care possible. Being part of that process is amazing to witness and makes me want to do my best for all involved.”
