The birth of a new baby is a wondrous event in the lives of parents. It's also a time when parents-to-be are full of questions. The Childbirth Class will help answer questions about the birthing process and lets new parents know what options are available to make the birth of their child the best it can be.

Birthing Naturally Class Series

Monday 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

4 class series

Professional Building, Room A

Our Birthing Naturally class covers the same content as our traditional Childbirth Preparation Class, but this class will put an emphasis on techniques for natural childbirth. Being a series of classes, Birthing Naturally allows participants to build their confidence and knowledge by teaching small amounts of information over time. We will discuss each stage of labor, comfort measures during each stage and variations for the stage of labor. It is a hands-on course with lots of practice and role-playing. Those who sign up should bring two pillows.

Breastfeeding Success Class

Monday Classes: 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.


Thursday Classes: 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Professional Building, Room A

Classes will discuss benefits of breastfeeding, positioning, latch-on and problem solving techniques. The classes will be conducted by a certified lactation consultant at Wilson Memorial Hospital.

Newborn Care Class

Tuesday Classes: 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. 


Saturday Classes: 3:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Professional Building, Room A

This comprehensive class teaches couples what to expect with their newborn. Parents-to be will be prepared for daily care: feeding, sleep, diapering, circumcision and umbilical cord care, bathing and dressing. You will learn what a healthy newborn looks like. We will also discuss temperament, crying and comforting techniques, behavior states, SIDS awareness and prevention, Shaken Baby Syndrome, Back to Sleep, car seat safety and understanding how a newborn communicates. Couples will understand when their baby needs to be seen by their healthcare provider, how to choose a healthcare provider and that each baby and family is unique. The class is interactive and time is alloted for all questions.
